As a director/manager, I would like to see collaborative solutions to engaging our children, youth and families with their culture and community. I would like to see how our dance school can reconnect families to their culture and language while promoting a positive self-image and personal growth. I would want to see strategies to improve and contribute to the building of supports and systems that increase student and community engagement. With my professional background working with children, youth and families with the Ministry of Child and Family Development, I have experience in engaging with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I believe this is key to the work we do here at Shan-e-Punjab.

I have learned to support teachers and students through direction and supervision. In addition to training teachers, I also support creating choreography and mixes. I have incorporated skills in connecting with children, youth, and families on how to improve their overall experience with the school and with each other. There is great importance in providing safe and inclusive spaces to support children and their sense of belonging and safety. Creating spaces like this allows them to meet their peers and make life-long connections, mentors, and coaching relationships. These children and youth are able to flourish and grow in their own unique way. I have learned to use my passion for Bhangra to connect families with their culture and language. When such opportunities to be a director/manager arise, I have been able to provide opportunities for children and youth to build teamwork skills, while working towards a common goal in a productive dance team.
